Troubleshooting: CloudKit Sync Error

How sync works in PriceRight Pro #

PriceRight Pro stores your data in your private iCloud database. Sync happens automatically in the background โ€” when you create a job on your iPhone, it syncs to iCloud and appears on your iPad (or any other device signed into the same Apple ID) within seconds under normal conditions. You don’t trigger sync manually; it runs continuously while the app is open and periodically when it’s in the background.

Data not appearing on a second device #

  • Check the Apple ID. Both devices must be signed into the same Apple ID for iCloud sync to work. Open Settings โ†’ [your name] on each device and confirm they match
  • Check iCloud Drive is enabled. Go to Settings โ†’ [your name] โ†’ iCloud and make sure iCloud Drive is turned on. PriceRight Pro requires iCloud to sync
  • Force open the app on the second device. CloudKit pushes sync when the app is running. If the second device hasn’t had the app open recently, open it and wait 30โ€“60 seconds for data to arrive
  • Check iCloud status. Apple occasionally has iCloud service disruptions. Visit apple.com/support/systemstatus to check whether CloudKit is degraded

App shows data but sync feels slow #

  • Sync speed depends on your internet connection and iCloud infrastructure. On cellular, sync may take a few seconds longer than on fast Wi-Fi
  • Pull to refresh on any list view to trigger an immediate data reload from the local store. This doesn’t force a network sync but confirms what’s currently on the device
  • Force-close the app and reopen it. This reinitializes the CloudKit sync connection

iCloud storage is full #

If your iCloud storage is full, new data cannot sync to iCloud. The app will still save data locally on your device, but it won’t reach your other devices or be protected by iCloud. Check your storage at Settings โ†’ [your name] โ†’ iCloud โ†’ Manage Account Storage. Free up space or upgrade your iCloud plan.

Duplicate records appearing #

Duplicate records can appear when the same data is created on two devices before sync catches up and then both copies sync to iCloud. This is rare but can happen if you work offline and create records on multiple devices simultaneously.

  • Open each duplicate and compare the content. Delete the one with less complete information
  • Going forward, avoid creating the same job or client on multiple devices simultaneously โ€” let sync complete before working on a second device

Signed out of iCloud #

If you sign out of iCloud on your device โ€” or if iCloud is turned off for PriceRight Pro specifically โ€” sync will stop. Your existing data remains on the device, but nothing new will sync and the existing data won’t be backed up by iCloud. Sign back into iCloud at Settings โ†’ [your name] and re-enable iCloud Drive.

If you’ve recently reset your device or set it up as new, open PriceRight Pro after signing into your Apple ID โ€” your iCloud data will sync back down to the new device over the next few minutes.
