FAQ: How Do I Add a New Trade Vertical?

1 min read

Who this is for: Managers

PriceRight Pro doesn’t add verticals — it switches between them. #

The app comes with 11 trade verticals built in. You’re not adding a new one — you’re switching your active vertical to whichever trade you need. Each vertical loads a different set of defaults: industry-appropriate markup rates, labor cost structures, estimate sections, and SmartScope calculators matched to that trade.

The 11 available verticals are: Pressure Washing, Video Production, General Contractor, Freelancer / Creative, Retail / Product Seller, Cleaning Service, Painter, Landscaper, Marketing, Coaching, and Graphic Designer. A General / Custom option is also available for trades that don’t fit a specific preset.

To switch your active vertical #

Go to Settings and tap Change Specialty. A screen appears showing all available verticals as cards — your current vertical is highlighted. Tap any card to switch to that trade. Your default rates, markup, and estimate structure update immediately to match the new vertical.

Does switching verticals delete my existing jobs or catalog? #

No. Switching verticals changes your active defaults — the preset rates and estimate sections that appear when you start a new job. Existing jobs, your Service Catalog, your Product Catalog, and all your historical data are untouched. Only new jobs will reflect the new vertical’s defaults.

What if my trade isn’t listed? #

Use General / Custom. It gives you the full estimate builder with no pre-set defaults — you configure your own labor rates, overhead, and markup from scratch. If you work across multiple trades, the vertical you set here is your primary default. Each individual job also lets you select its job type independently, so you can run Roofing and Landscaping jobs from a General Contractor setup without switching your vertical each time.

ℹ️ Multi-company note: If you run more than one business under separate company profiles, each company can have its own active vertical independently. Switching verticals in one company doesn’t affect another. See Set Up and Manage Multiple Businesses →
