Who this is for: Managers and Field Workers | Tax Checkpoint: Scanned receipts are stored in iCloud and linked to your expense records
How AI receipt scanning works #
When you scan a receipt, PriceRight Pro captures the image, reads the text with OCR, and uses PriceRight AI to extract the vendor name, date, amount, and expense category — then pre-fills the expense form with everything it found. You review, adjust anything it missed, and save. The receipt image is stored in iCloud alongside the expense record.
Scan a receipt #
Open or create an expense record. In the Receipt Photos section, tap Scan Receipt (AI) — the subtitle reads “Auto-fills vendor, date, amount & category” and it’s labeled “Powered by PriceRight Pro AI.” The camera opens in full-screen with nav title Scan Receipt.
Point the camera at the receipt and capture the image. A loading overlay appears while the app processes the scan — you’ll see a status message as it works through OCR and AI extraction. When complete, the expense form opens pre-filled with everything the scanner found. Review each field — the AI is accurate on most receipts but verify the amount and category before saving.
Tap Cancel at any point to exit without saving.
Add multiple receipt pages #
For multi-page receipts — long hardware store receipts, fuel printouts with multiple transactions — you can attach more than one image to a single expense. In the Receipt Photos section of the expense editor, tap Add Receipt Photo to take another photo, or Add from Files to attach a saved image. Each attachment is counted: “N receipt page(s) attached.” All pages are stored together with the expense record in iCloud.
Scan a barcode #
The barcode scanner is useful for logging supplies, materials, or any item with a product barcode. When creating an expense, tap the barcode icon in the expense editor to open the scanner. The camera activates with the nav title Scan Barcode and a white reticle frame in the center of the screen. The hint reads: “Align barcode within the frame.” Point the camera at the barcode — the app reads it automatically and closes the scanner as soon as a code is detected.
Supported formats include standard retail barcodes (EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-E), Code 128, Code 39, QR codes, and PDF417. If the app can’t access your camera, an alert appears: “Camera Access Required — PriceRight needs camera access to scan barcodes.” Tap Open Settings to enable it.
Export your Receipt Box #
All receipt images linked to your expenses are stored in your Receipt Box in iCloud. You can export the entire Receipt Box as a ZIP file — useful for sharing with your accountant at tax time or for your own backup. The ZIP export is available from the expense management area. The archive contains all receipt images organized by expense, ready to hand to your CPA.
