FAQ: How Do Field Workers Download and Use the App?

2 min read

๐Ÿ‘ฅ For: Managers and Field Workers

What is Field Mode? #

Field Mode is the part of PriceRight Pro designed for sales reps and estimators who go out on site to quote jobs. A field worker uses the same PriceRight Pro app on their own iPhone or iPad, but they access it with an access code you create โ€” they see your pricing, your catalog, and the tools you’ve enabled for them. Their estimates come back to you as a file you import to create a job.

Field Mode is completely separate from Crew Mode. Field workers are estimators and sales reps. Crew members are job site workers who clock in and out. Different systems, different access codes, different tools.

What device do field workers need? #

An iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or later. Field Mode is part of the PriceRight Pro app, which is iOS only. There is no Android version of the app and no web portal for Field Mode โ€” field workers must have an Apple device.

How does a field worker get started? #

Three steps:

  • Download the app. The field worker downloads PriceRight Pro from the App Store on their iPhone or iPad โ€” the same app you use
  • Get the access code. You create a code for them in Field Mode โ†’ Field Users โ†’ tap + โ†’ configure their permissions โ†’ tap Share Code + Setup Instructions to send them the code along with onboarding instructions
  • Enter the code. They open the app, tap the workspace switcher at the top of the home screen, add a new connection, and enter the access code. The app connects to your account and downloads your pricing

That’s it. They’re ready to build estimates in your catalog with your pricing.

Do they need their own PriceRight Pro subscription? #

No. Field workers use Field Mode through your account. They download the free app, enter your access code, and operate within your plan. They don’t pay for anything โ€” your plan covers their field access.

How many field workers can I add? #

Standard plans include 1 field user seat. Premium plans include 5 base seats, with the option to purchase additional seat packs โ€” each pack adds 10 seats permanently. You can see your current seat usage in Field Users: the counter shows “N of N field users used.”

What can a field worker do in the app? #

That depends on the permissions you set when creating their access code. The options include:

  • Build estimates in your trade verticals and catalog
  • View and add CRM contacts (if CRM access is enabled)
  • Create and manage pipeline leads (if pipeline access is enabled)
  • Log expenses and mileage
  • Capture before and after site photos
  • Clock in and out (if clock-in is enabled for their code)
  • Share a digital business card with your company branding (if card is enabled)
  • View their commission tally (if Commission Tracker is enabled)
  • Log daily sales activity

They can only see and do what you’ve enabled for their specific code.

How do field worker estimates get back to me? #

When a field worker finishes an estimate, they export a .prfield file and send it to you โ€” via AirDrop, Messages, or email. You import it in PriceRight Pro and it becomes a full job in your account. See Review Incoming Field Estimates and Data for the full import flow.

What if a field worker’s pricing looks outdated? #

Their app shows a banner when pricing hasn’t been refreshed recently. They can tap Refresh Now to pull your latest catalog and rates. Pricing also syncs automatically when they export an estimate. If you’ve made significant changes to your pricing, let them know to refresh before their next site visit.

How do I remove a field worker’s access? #

Open Field Users, tap their row, and revoke their code. Their access is removed immediately โ€” their app can no longer connect to your account. The access code can’t be reactivated; you’d create a new one if you want to re-invite them.
