Vertical: Landscaping ยท Nav: ๐ฟ Landscaper Tools ยท Tabs: 5
Landscaper Tools is a 5-tab SmartScope toolkit covering material volume, sod area, mowing time, plant cost, and annual contract pricing. Each tab is self-contained โ use whichever tabs apply to the job at hand.
Tab 1 โ Mulch / Topsoil #
The Mulch / Topsoil tab calculates cubic yards for mulch, topsoil, river rock, or crushed stone. In Bed Areas, tap Add Area to enter each bed by dimensions, or tap Measure on Map to polygon-measure the bed from satellite (Premium). Add as many bed areas as the job has.
In Material & Depth, pick the material: Mulch, Topsoil, River Rock, or Crushed Stone. Enter the application depth, waste factor, and your price per cubic yard. Results shows total cubic yards needed and your material cost.
Tab 2 โ Sod #
The Sod Sq Ft tab prices sod by net lawn area โ excluding hardscape. In Lot Areas, tap Add Section for each area of the property, or tap Measure on Map to measure from satellite. For each section, toggle the switch between Lawn and Hardscape. The footer confirms: “Toggle ‘Hardscape’ to mark non-sodded areas. Only lawn areas count toward sod.” Patios, walkways, and driveways get marked Hardscape and are excluded from the sod calculation automatically.
In Cost, enter a waste factor and your price per sq ft. Results shows net lawn area and your sod cost.
Tab 3 โ Mowing #
The Mowing Time tab estimates job time and cost based on lawn area, equipment, and obstacles. In Job Details, enter the lawn area (or use the map icon to measure it). Pick your mower from the Mower picker โ three options with built-in productivity rates:
- Ride-on / Zero-turn โ 40,000 sq ft/hr
- Walk-behind 21″ โ 10,000 sq ft/hr
- Walk-behind 36″ โ 18,000 sq ft/hr
Set the Obstacles factor: Open Lawn, Light Obstacles, Medium Obstacles, or Heavy / Complex. Each level multiplies the mow time to account for trees, garden beds, tight corners, and other slowdowns. Enter travel time in minutes and your hourly rate. Results shows total mow time and job cost.
Tab 4 โ Plants & Materials #
The Plant & Material Cost tab builds a materials list with markup. The list comes pre-loaded with common items โ Shrubs / Perennials, Mulch (cubic yards), Topsoil (cubic yards), Annuals / Flats โ each with quantity, unit cost, and markup percentage. Tap Add Item to add anything not on the list. Edit any row inline: change the name, adjust quantity, update your cost, or change the markup. Summary shows your total material cost and total billed to the client.
Tab 5 โ Seasonal Annualizer #
The Seasonal Annualizer builds an annual service contract from your regular visit services. In Services, toggle on each recurring service: Lawn Mowing, Fertilization, Spring Cleanup, Fall Cleanup, and any services you add with Add Service. For each service, set the per-visit rate and number of visits per year.
In Annual Contract, enter a contract discount percentage. The summary shows the ร la carte annual total, the discount amount, the discounted Annual contract value, and the Monthly billing amount. The tool makes the business case directly: “Annual contracts provide predictable revenue and reduce churn. Even a 10% discount is typically worth the booking certainty across the full season.”
