Who this is for: Managers
๐ผ Why this matters
Every estimate you build from scratch is time you’re not spending on the job. A catalog is your pricing library โ every service you offer, every product you sell, every package you’ve put together โ priced against your real costs so you’re never guessing your margin. Once it’s built, pulling together an estimate takes minutes instead of half an hour.
PriceRight Pro has four catalog tools: the Service Catalog for your service offerings, the Product Catalog for physical goods, the Package Builder for tiered service bundles, and the Add-On Library for optional upgrades. Each feeds directly into the estimate builder.
Service Catalog #
The Service Catalog is where your recurring services live โ the things you quote on every job. Open it from the home screen. The catalog opens with two tabs: Services and Packages.
Tap Add Service at the bottom of the Services tab to create a new service. The service editor opens with pricing tabs: Base Price, Commission, Volume, Surcharges, and Utilization. Set your service name, base price, and your cost โ the editor shows your margin live as you type. When your margin is strong it shows green; below your minimum it flags the issue.
The catalog also supports storewide settings that apply across all services at once โ a storewide commission rate and volume discount thresholds. These are in the settings panel on the catalog view, so you don’t have to set them service by service.
Sort your catalog by Date Added, Name, Price, or Margin to stay on top of what you’re selling and what’s performing. The Catalog Summary section at the bottom shows your total service and package count, average margin, total revenue, and net profit across the full catalog โ a quick health check on your pricing as a whole.
You can name and save your catalog โ tap Save Catalog and give it a name (for example, “Summer Services”) to save the current version as a snapshot. This lets you maintain seasonal or project-type catalogs separately.
Product Catalog #
The Product Catalog is for physical goods โ materials you sell directly to clients, retail items, or any product with a unit cost and a selling price. Open it from the home screen.
Tap Add Product (or Add First Product on an empty catalog) to create a new product. Set the product name, your cost, and selling price. The editor calculates your margin automatically and shows whether it clears your minimum threshold. Products support tiered pricing โ different prices at different quantities โ and can be marked as most popular to surface them in the estimate builder.
The Product Catalog also supports storewide promotions: a flat storewide discount and volume discount thresholds that apply across all products. Use Save Catalog as Quote to export the current product list as a quote document. Use Reset Catalog to delete all products and start fresh โ this is irreversible.
Package Builder #
Packages let you offer tiered bundles โ Good, Better, Best pricing, or any tier structure you define. A client sees clear options at different price points; you control exactly what’s included in each tier and what it’s priced at.
Open the Package Builder from the Packages tab in the Service Catalog. Tap Add Package to open a new package. The builder has four sections:
- Package details โ Enter the package name, an optional client name, notes, and an optional expiration date for time-limited offers
- Billing mode โ Choose Project (flat) for one-time jobs or Retainer (monthly) for ongoing contracts. Monthly billing shows a contract length field and calculates total contract value automatically
- Item pool โ Add the services and products that any tier can draw from. Tap Add Item to pick from your existing catalog, or Add Manually to enter a custom item. Everything in the pool is available to all tiers
- Tiers โ Tap Add Tier to create a pricing tier. Name it anything โ Good / Better / Best, Starter / Pro / Enterprise, or your own labels. For each tier, toggle which pool items are included, set price or quantity overrides per item, and apply a tier-level discount. Mark one tier as Most Popular to highlight it when presenting to a client
Tap Save when the package is complete. The package appears in the Packages tab of the Service Catalog and can be added directly to an estimate.
Add-On Library #
Add-ons are optional upgrades โ extras a client can choose to add to an estimate or package. They show up in Client Mode so clients can select them on the spot, and they’re available to add to any job. Open the Add-On Library from the home screen.
Tap the + button to create a new add-on. The form includes Name, Description (optional), and Category โ categories group your add-ons in the library and in the client-facing view. Set the Pricing Type (flat fee, per-unit, or percentage of total), your Price, and Your Cost. For per-unit add-ons, enter the unit label โ for example, “room,” “pane,” or “cu yd” โ so the client sees a meaningful unit in the estimate.
If you’re starting from scratch, tap Seed Prebuilt Library to load a set of common add-ons for your trade โ a faster starting point than building the library one item at a time.
๐ Smart Business Tip
The time you spend building your catalog now pays back on every estimate from here on. A catalog with 15โ20 well-priced services means most estimates are assembled in under five minutes โ you’re selecting and adjusting, not building from zero. Start with your five most-quoted services and build from there. Within a month the catalog reflects your actual business, and every estimate is faster and more consistent.
