Who this is for: Managers | Part 1 of 2: Add Contacts to Your CRM and Start a Pipeline Lead β
πΌ Why this matters
Every business card you come home with and never enter is a prospect you’ll forget to follow up with. The scanner turns a card into a full CRM contact in under 30 seconds β name, company, phone, email, LinkedIn profile, and an AI-generated sales brief that tells you how to open the conversation. The lead is in the system before you leave the room.
Step 1 β Open the scanner #
Open your CRM from the home screen. In the top-right toolbar, tap the camera.viewfinder icon. The business card scanner opens with a live camera view.
Step 2 β Frame and capture the card #
Hold the card flat in good lighting and point the camera at it. When the card is detected, the overlay shows Card detected β tap to capture. Tap the screen to take the shot. The scanner reads the card and shows Reading cardβ¦ while it processes.
π‘ Tip: Flat, even lighting works best. Avoid glare from overhead lights β tilt the card slightly if the surface is shiny. The scanner reads both horizontal and vertical card orientations.
Step 3 β Review and edit the contact #
The Review Contact screen opens with all scanned fields pre-filled. Review each field and correct anything the scanner misread. The Contact section includes:
- Name, Company, Title / Role
- Email, Phone, Second Phone, Website
- LinkedIn profile β the app searches LinkedIn automatically using the name and company from the card. While searching, a Searching LinkedInβ¦ indicator appears inline. When a match is found, it shows LinkedIn profile found with an Open button to verify. The profile link is saved to the contact record.
The Address section shows Street, City, State, and ZIP if they were printed on the card.
Step 4 β Review the Sales Brief #
Below the address, a Sales Brief section appears β an AI-generated read on this contact based on their name, company, title, and industry. It surfaces context that’s useful before a follow-up call: what the company likely does, what pain points someone in that role typically has, and how to open the conversation.
The Sales Brief is read-only β it’s generated once from the card fields and saved to the contact record. It shows on the contact detail every time you open that record.
βΉοΈ Note: The Sales Brief is powered by PriceRight Pro AI. It generates while the review screen is open β if it hasn’t appeared yet, give it a moment. If the card had very little text, the brief may not generate.
Step 5 β Choose whether to add to the Prospect Pipeline #
The Add to Prospect Pipeline toggle is off by default. Turn it on if this contact is an active lead you want to track in the pipeline. When enabled, a prospect entry is created in the New Lead stage automatically when you save β no extra steps needed.
Leave the toggle off if this is a networking contact, a vendor, or someone you’re not actively pursuing right now. You can always add them to the pipeline later from their contact record.
Step 6 β Save to CRM #
Tap Save to CRM in the top-right corner. If a contact with the same name already exists, you’ll see a prompt: Save as New to create a separate record, or Update Existing to merge the scanned information into the existing contact.
If you need to reshoot the card before saving, tap Rescan Card at the bottom of the review screen.
β You’re done with Part 1.
The contact is in your CRM with their LinkedIn profile linked and a Sales Brief ready for your next call.
